(NOTE: Thar be spoilers below for #234, and a few recent issues before that.)
Let me just start off saying... Ian Flynn is not the debil, guys.
If people are allowed to whine about the series, I feel I should be allowed to do so in FAVOR of the series, as well. Right? ;) (I dunno, I'm tired of always keeping quiet about the series with all of the "haters" on DA. So if you get offended by a different point of view from your own, don't read.)

Allow me to touch on a few complaints about the Sonic Archie comic series recently...
How come when the comics get dark it's bad, but when SatAM, or the games get dark that's ok? (I think it's ironic alot of complainers are SatAM fans, because of that, no offense. I am a fan of that series to.)
Not to mention they killed-off characters in those to. (Granted they were unimportant/one-shot ones like Cat, or Maria Robotnik.)
And honestly, if you guys think the comics are "to dark" now, you really need to read more literature, or look at every other comic book out there. Sonic is nowhere near being "Batman"-dark. (Heck, Ken Penders' older stories were much darker and dramangsty then Ian's, I felt.)
Honestly, even "Harry Potter" was much darker then this, if you ask me. People didn't quit on that series when bad things started happening to the good guys in that, when main characters died, or when the bad guys were given the advantage, and such. (Plus the heroes bounced back, so to speak.) Even fans of the character Dumbledore didn't quit the series when "you know what" happened to him. (ROBOTNIK KILLS DUMBLEDORE!) How come that same logic isn't being applied to Sonic? Perhaps, because it's still an ongoing series, and HP ended.

I also don't see why some are so against death in the comic. Sure it's an "all ages" comic, but you can't hide death from kids forever, ("OH don't worry, Billy! Bambi's Mommy is just sleeping!") it's rediculous, and some kids end up getting pretty messed-up when overprotective parents try to hide things like that from them for to long. Studies have shown kids are better at dealing with death at a young age, and such. I heard about one girl who didn't know what death was until she was almost a teenager, and as a result, she couldn't handle death very well, and would freak out really badly whenever hearing that somebody died in both real life, and in fiction.
Also, if death never happened in the comic, it would be very predictable, and unrealistic and you would never have to worry about the heroes. Comics are suppost to occasionally provoke, or make you worried, or interested about what's going to happen to your favorite characters. You can either accept what happens, or write your own fanfics where everything is "always fine," and "always works out in 5 minutes or less." Don't be angry, just because the comic is going through the trouble to build up an actual story with conflict, and struggling for the heroes, and that it's not being wrapped up in only 20 pages. (Though, I hope they don't drag it out for to many issues.)

No offense, I can understand the comic isn't for everyone, and I can understand why some don't dig the series, (heck I used to not like it either) but I think some are getting to fanatical with their hatred of the comic, and Ian's "controversial" directions. (Honestly, there were times when I had doubts with Ian to, but then he'd have something awesome, or unexpected happen. I've honestly loved his stories, and he's my favorite writer on the series so far.)
I think some are just dead-set against the comic having any form of "conflict," "drama," or "difficulty" for the good guys at all. (And SatAM had those things to.) Would you guys rather the heroes just played in rainbowy meadows, with unicorns, happy animals, in a utopia without anything bad ever happening, aside from an occasional robot attack?

Ian doesn't always rely on "shock-value," as some are claiming. I can think of many issues he's done that didn't have that. (And some pretty funny light-hearted ones to.) In fact, Ian must be a pretty damn good writer if he's making some fans so paranoid about what's going to happen, and thinking rediculous things like "zomg! he's ganna kill-off every SatAM-character in favor of the game ones," and such. (Wich he would never do. Plus he doesn't always rely on killing off characters as you guys claim. When Eggman destroyed the original Knothole village in #175, nobody actually died surprisingly. That in itself was quite surprising.)

In fact, I should probably point out to you all that Ian is a SatAM fan to, and references that show in the comic, as well. (In fact, I chuckled at the SatAM-quote in #234, the newest issue.) Goes to show, alot of your people complaining about him, and spreading bullshit rumors about him, ("zomg! Ian is SonAmy/SonSal, and eats babies!") don't know anything about the guy. I've gone to his message board (the Bumbleking forums) for years, and judging from his own words addressing fans on certain things, or in Q&A sessions, he's actually a very nice guy, and is very passionate about the series, and wants to give fans what they want, while occasionally surprising them.
Heck, he even references some Sonic shows, and characters he doesn't like. I heard he doesn't like the campy "AoStH" show, but he referenced, "SNOOPING AS USUAL, I SEEEEEEE?" regardless. (And brought back, Scratch, Grounder, and Coconuts a few years ago.)
He's not as "biased" as some fans say he is when it comes to what parts of Sonic, or what characters he prefers.
So stop whining that he "hates" Sally just 'cause she got roboticized, or that he "hates" Antoine just 'cause he got hurt recently. He doesn't favor the game, or SatAM, or original comic characters over the other, in fact he's been trying to balance them, if you ask me.
Ironically, I see Sally-haters accuse him of prefering Sally over every other character, but if that were true, he wouldn't of let her get roboticized. So wich is it? Does he hate or love Sally to much? Make up your minds!

If you hate the comics, and Ian that much, don't read them then. I can respect your opinions, but some of you "haters" are really overreacting.
...Especially those of you saying you're going to try to get Ian fired. Sonic fanbase I am disapoint.
(Also, keep in mind fan-complaints are not why past writers like Ken & Karl were axed. Half of the fanbases complained about Ken Penders for years, and they kept him in the comic for a long time actually.)

As for issue #234, I loved it personally, but I can see why some are upset.
Though, I don't see the point in complaining about what happened to Antoine, (who's one of my favorite characters BTW) until we know for sure what happens to him. I kinda doubt he's ganna die, and even if he does, at least he'll go out as a hero. (Plus honestly, I can't think of anything "interesting" they can do with his character at this point in the series, with how huge the cast is, and stuff.) Same goes for Sally is she doesn't get deroboticized or something somehow. (I love both Sally & Antoine, but I don't read the series solely for them.)
Though, I suppose it would be to sad for Bunnie considering she's married to him, and all, so I wouldn't actually want to see Ant' go, and I hope he'll be alright.

Speaking of Bunnie, I admit I have mixed feelings on her being deroboticized (a wizard did it! Nyuk! Nyuk!) but it's kinda interesting to see her having to cope without her robotic limbs' abilities, and stuff. I'm interested to see if this is only temporary, or what they're going to do with her character.

I think you need to be a bit more optimistic about the series, I'm perhaps the most optimistic fan of the comic you'll probably find on DA.
I admit, I feel it's fine for people to critique things they don't like about the comic, (I have done that to) and maybe Ian is kinda dragging the dramanst a bit out for to long, but I've read every issue Ian's written for, and he never lets the dramangst last to long. I'm sure eventually things will get better for the heroes, and they'll bounce back. (Besides if they won quickly, and deroboticized Sally, gave Naugus the boot out of New Mobotropolis, and fixed everything so quickly it'd be pretty dull, if you ask me.)
As for me, I'm just ganna enjoy the ride Ian's taking us on, and see where he's going with all of the Mecha-Sally, King Naugus, Death Egg returning, and such stuff happening in the comic now. I'm more-so interested in waiting, and seeing what happens then complaining over trivial things.

PS: I hear the comics are still selling well, Ian, Paul, and Archie Comics must be doing something right.
